Ricoh GR II Diary: Peking Duck and Positive Film in Dongguan
In the fading afternoon light of Dongguan, Guangdong, I found a quiet respite at Shandong Exquisite Restaurant. The small, unassuming Ricoh GR II, set to Positive Film, was the perfect companion for capturing the textures of the coming evening.
The atmosphere inside was a stark contrast to the fast-moving world outside, glimpsed only in the reflection of a bright red Mini Cooper tail light on the street. Here, time seemed to slow, allowing me to focus on the small, comforting rituals of the meal.
My gaze settled on a blue and white ceramic teapot, promising warmth, a centerpiece on the table soon to be laden with food. After the satisfying crunch of the duck and the soft bite of the dumplings, the final, honest indicator of a thoroughly enjoyed meal remained: a white bowl of duck bones on the counter. It was a perfect evening—a blend of superb food, peaceful reflection, and the quiet click of the GR II, preserving the memory of a delicious dinner in Dongguan.
