Lunch at Yulong Mountain Villa: A Wengyuan Stop
The journey paused at the Yulong Mountain Villa, confirmed by a billboard upon departure. The blue car rested quietly on the gravel road in the woods. This tranquil setting featured a pond mirroring a house against the hilly landscape, offering a glimpse of quiet domestic life.
Inside the house, a room displayed a painting framed by a humble fence. Outside, the midday sun bathed the surroundings. Two straw brooms leaned against a bright blue wall, while a shady backyard corner held old tools and a worn bucket, hinting at the villa's daily rhythm.
Above, the clear blue sky framed a lone, leafy branch. A wet jacket dried quickly on a wire. Subtle signs of persistent life were everywhere: a tiny plant growing on the edge of a roof, a bird's nest high in a tree, a small fly landing on a sunlit leaf, and delicate Oxalis debilis flowers blooming beneath the forest canopy.
The focus shifted briefly to the meal: a perfectly steamed mandarin fish on a white plate, followed by a comforting bowl of pork soup, spoon ready.
After the meal, the vista was observed once more. A roof's shadow was cast against the clear sky near a high tree branch. The expansive view included a tree-covered hill under the vast blue sky, with the afternoon sun creating pockets of light through the leaves. The scene captured a quiet haven in a fleeting moment.
