Chadong Ancient Tree Village: A Golden Hour Finale
The day culminated in the serene atmosphere of Chadong Ancient Tree Village, a peaceful counterpoint to the lively Lingnan Maple Leaves World. As the golden hour began, the setting sun cast a warm, gentle light across the rugged landscape.
The village, officially marked by a yellow wall sign, is a testament to deep history, prominently featuring an old ginkgo tree. This late-season relic of autumn offered a final glimpse of gold with just a few remaining leaves.
The evening light transformed the fields into a magical scene. We watched a woman, stick in hand, walk a road, her silhouette framed by a distant mountain against the fading light. A closer view showcased a small harvest of Solanum Mammosum (Nipple Fruits) on a branch, while a wider perspective captured an entire field of these plants bordered by tall grass.
The descent of the sun offered a final, glorious illumination of the mountain peaks under a pale blue sky. The open fields were captivating, with silver grass swaying gracefully in the evening breeze, moments we captured from various angles.
As the village transitioned into dusk, the houses were seen with fields in the foreground and the familiar mountains, now deep blue shadows, in the background. A paved road, its brightly colored traffic lines guiding us deeper, led us into the settlement. Here, we observed examples of traditional architecture: a small structure with earthen brick and stone walls, and a window with a wooden frame set into an earthen wall. We also noted a large quantity of bamboo sticks stored in front of one structure.
Evening life continued: a vegetable garden still bright with blooming yellow rapeseed flowers. Simple scenes, such as a pile of dry bamboo poles, stood in contrast to more striking buildings, including a yellow earthen brick structure with a black tile roof, and another building whose side view highlighted its earthen construction.
Chadong Ancient Tree Village offered an authentic and peaceful conclusion to the day, its ancient spirit quietly enduring as the sun finally set.
