A Delightful Cantonese Lunch in Holly Macau Style Restaurant

On a bright afternoon in downtown Dongguan, we enjoyed a traditional Macau-style Cantonese meal at Holly Restaurant.

The Meal and Atmosphere

The table was set impeccably, each place with a bowl, plate, spoon, and chopsticks. Soon, a generous spread of dishes arrived. Our selections included classic roast chicken, served with a vibrant red chili sauce on the side, a plate of curry shrimp, and comforting egg fried rice. A special highlight was the steamer of chicken soup dumplings. The pleasant setting, captured in an overview of the table filled with plates and bowls, enhanced the experience. We concluded the meal on a light, sweet note with two slices of cantaloupe.

The interior of the restaurant featured a festive star-shaped Christmas decoration hanging from a ceiling light. As we departed, the staff was already preparing for the next patrons, with two sets of plates and bowls waiting on a table.

Restaurant Details and Surroundings

The restaurant's exterior was charming, featuring tables, chairs, and distinctive yellow, black, and white hexagonal floor tiles. A white scooter parked outside, advertising "The Art Of Cantonese Cuisine," clearly communicated the establishment's focus.

The surroundings added to the appeal. Nearby, we saw a patio area with tables, chairs, and umbrellas, and another with a lamp and a Christmas tree in the background. Small, beautiful details, such as a red flower in a pot on the sidewalk and a pink rose in front of a white chair, dotted the area, contrasting with the city's practical side, evidenced by a yellow and red traffic cone on the side of the road.
