A Purple Palette on the Last Saturday of 2025

The last Saturday morning of 2025 brought a gentle chill to Qingxi town, providing the perfect setting for a photographic quest. Armed with my Sony A6700, my mission was simple yet focused: to capture the quiet beauty of the town, with a particular emphasis on the color purple.

My walk began with a subtle nod to the recently departed holiday season—a still-decorated Christmas tree sporting purple ornaments. A brief stop for urban comfort—a McCafe coffee and a hamburger—provided an early morning start before truly venturing out.

The search for purple quickly led me to the riverbank, where the color began to emerge in the local flora. I first documented the gentle purple of a Panicum Miliaceum plant against the river's backdrop. This discovery paved the way for more striking finds: a detailed close-up of a Vernonia flower, its vibrancy isolated by a blurry background, and a magnificent cluster of purple Ruellia Simplex flowers framed by the water.

Purple continued to surface in unexpected spots. A melancholic beauty was found in a fallen Bauhinia × Blakeana flower lying on the ground. Nearby, life persisted with a contrastingly bright bunch of red Bougainvillea flowers set against the river and the delicate fallen bloom. The palette expanded overhead, featuring a pink Bauhinia × Blakeana flower on a branch, and a dramatic, high-contrast shot of a purple Bougainvillea flower set against a vibrant yellow background.

As I moved along the riverbank, the town slowly stirred. A solitary man fishing added a human element and a sense of scale to the scene. My focus then shifted to capturing small, colorful details: a net tied to a white fence, and a delicate fountain grass flower, its long stem elegantly framed by the river and a distant bridge.

Architectural elements punctuated the natural world, such as a quiet building with a chimney, gracefully framed by flowers and trees. Even the remnants of human activity echoed the central theme: a few purple fallen flowers scattered across a rusted metal net in the shadows.

With the rising sun, warm yellow accents were introduced—a close-up of a yellow Dandelion against a soft background, and another Dandelion brilliantly illuminated by the sunlight streaming through its petals. Yet, the persistent purple theme remained in the smaller, less prominent blooms: a close-up of a Cyanthillium Cinereum flower in a field, and finally, a pink Podranea ricasoliana flower set against a backdrop of green leaves.

The photo walk successfully concluded, having documented the subtle yet pervasive presence of purple that quietly painted the small town on this final Saturday of the year.
