Nanxiang Steamed Bun - A Culinary Journey in Shanghai

Introduction

Our culinary journey in Shanghai kicked off at the iconic Nanxiang Steamed Bun on Yuyuan Road. A household name since 1900, this legendary establishment is famous for its handmade xiao long bao. These delicate dumplings, boasting paper-thin skins and juicy pork fillings, consistently draw long queues. Beyond the classic offerings, we ventured to try seasonal fillings and their impressive 'super' buns, which are so large they're served with a straw for the savory soup within. The dining room, which underwent refurbishment in 2018, presents a modern and airy ambiance. This inaugural meal in Shanghai truly set a high standard for our foodie adventure.
